I have mixed feelings about the whole "new year" thing. It was always more of a thing for me than Christmas, it's probably over 30 years since I gave any shits about the latter. But both these things are just faux solstice celebrations that miss the mark and carry a lot of daft human baggage. Solstice has happened... but hey, we're on the way back up to the light, so I am sat here with a glass of cognac and YouTube. Regardless of my feelings about the technicalities, there's still something about the calendar clonking over another year... meaningless as the number itself may be. I have no point here really, much like life. Hopefully the next rotation around the sun will be a better one. (In some general vague way, for you, for me, just preferably not worse... but I've a tendency towards pessimism.)
Anyone on this here Fediverse got some favourite "Mexican" (or otherwise TexMex or South American generally) recipes for pumpkin (*edit: aka winter squash, sorry I forget my En.Au language barrier sometimes - I mean firm, sweet, orange fleshed autumn/winter hard "squash" - to me a "squash" is a lemon drink lol - photo incoming in a few mins*) - especially something that's a good side/companion to a chunky chilli con carne. I like growing pumpkins, and now we have a few, but I must admit my pumpkin repertoire is a tad limited: roast pumpkin, Thai spiced pumpkin soup, and pumpkin scones. Hit me with your pumpkin action. 🎃 Or, as a sign outside a house near where we used to live advertised their excess pumpkins every year:
PARM
KINS

**[EDIT: I call everything in the attached photo a "pumpkin" - Queensland Blues, Waltham Butternuts, Burgess Buttercups, and Uchiki Kuri - some may have other names for these.]** #recipes #cooking #pumpkin
Terrible news... my Volvo suspension parts are with Evri.
My finger is hovering over a [DUH606Z]( ) - no special deal or anything, just got a hedge in need of trimming and property tools are elsewhere and not back until later in January. Have wanted to add a hedge trimmer to my 18V Makita lineup for a year or so now.
