I'm terrified for my parents who are in the United States. I don't think they appreciate that they're one phone call away from horrors no one should face, in a place with a lot of ignorant frustrated people with a chip on their shoulder, looking for someone to blame.
They believe their whiteness protects them, and I don't know how to get through that.
