Proponents of these systems promise far more that any self-sustaining system can produce, under the assumption that there is some wealthy "other" whose money, property, or labor is a bottomless resource pool that "the people" are entitled to take to support the unworkable promises. This system only works until you run out of other people's money. When the pool of stolen resources dries up, the system inevitably collapses.
