Two photos of the frigate USS Constitution in Boston Navy Yard, taken 50 years apart. One is this month with the USS Nantucket, a "littoral combat ship" that's sort of a modern frigate, except not as well designed. The other was in 1974 as the Constitution underwent a major rebuild and I talked my way into a tour by the commander. Asked whether he liked the job, he said it was much better than his previous tour of duty in Vietnam. #Boston #maritime #history #navy
