The latest proposal for a floating dock at the Channelside project on the Fort Point Channel drew an enthusiastic response last night from community members. USS Nantucket, a "littoral combat ship", tied up this morning at the Charlestown Navy yard next to the frigate Constitution. The Nantucket's crew stood by for the Constitution's daily 8am cannon and then toured the WW2 destroyer Cassin Young. The Nantucket will be officially commissioned here a week from today. Just learned that the U.K. Science Museum Group's gigantic National Collections Center, which opened last month in a former Royal Air Force base two hours west of London, is open for guided public tours.... ...although those are currently sold out. #museum
