This coastal tribe has a radical vision for fighting sea-level rise in the Hamptons Next to some of the priciest real estate in the world, the Shinnecock Nation refuses to merely retreat from its vulnerable shoreline. #sealevelrise #climatechange #climatecrisis #environmentaljustice image

Tied up in downtown Boston this morning, this is not a superyacht but a *supertender*. The 220-foot Holder can carry five smaller tenders plus jet skis, quad bikes, a submarine garage, a helipad and a large crew... to support the 287-foot superyacht Lonian tied up nearby. #Boston #harbor #billionaires
E. Boston resilience effort puts shoreline future in the hands of local youth [A] former site of a shipbuilding yard now is the home of curving, swirling bundles of cut reeds, each structure planted with grasses local to New England salt marshes and anchored along the beach to create a barrier against increased waves from storms. The work is part of Eastie Farm’s Climate Corps program, a paid fellowship program for local youth. https://baystatebanner.com/2024/09/11/e-boston-resilience-effort-puts-shoreline-future-in-the-hands-of-local-youth/ #Boston #harbor #ecosystem @npub1zgtw...c69a image

Any big harbor has a few derelict vessels tucked away. Here are the old tugs "Heidi", near the Alford Street Bridge over the Mystic River, and "Success", at the mouth of Chelsea Creek. Heidi hangs out with a barge for Anthony's Pier 4 restaurant in South Boston, which closed in 2013. Success ties up to the "JW Powell", best known for being captured by a burst of Coast Guard machine gun fire while running drugs, and for starring in the James Bond film Licence to Kill. #Boston #harbor #tug
