visited this brutalist hotel that now resides in an ikea parking lot in new haven. apparently they renovated it in adherence to the original style and it's supposed to be carbon zero featuring ceiling tiles made of I Can't Believe It's Not Asbestos™

i spent a slightly unhealthy amount of time installing python on this extra kobo i don't use anymore and setting up a little "dashboard" display for my kitchen. it should change to a black background and a different drawing when the sun goes down. will see if it worked in about an hour... i used this thing:

except some of the hardware paths and stuff had to be updated because i have a different model. eventually i figured it all out :D also i had to spin up a home assistant instance for some of the data. i already have a computer that i leave running so i just put it on there. i want to grab more data but will have to do some more custom stuff and i already spent too much time on this for now!
