Despite their appearance on screen, the characters were quite large: Tinky Winky stood at 10 feet, Po at 6 feet 6 inches, Laa-Laa at 6 feet 5 inches, and Dipsy at 8 feet in height.
To create the illusion of their small size, the show was filmed on an expansive set in Wimpstone, Warwickshire. This location was kept a secret for a significant period. However, once the information about the show's filming location became public, it unintentionally turned into a tourist attraction. People would trespass to visit the "Tubbytronic Superdome." Frustrated by these disturbances, the landowners eventually decided to flood the set.
