This is completely meaningless; Israel left Hamas & Gazans with nothing to lose, there's literally nothing left to bomb; the IDF ran out of targets 5 months ago!
Trump, Netanyahu & the entire Western world cannot do anything to get the hostages out except a ceasefire deal; this has been crystal clear to Israel's own security establishment.
I've been following Israelis' suggestions for what Trump can do differently to pressure Hamas. All ideas are tired and have been tried already, such as:
1- Defund UNRWA/Palestinian Authority; Israel/Trump did that already in 2018, didn't bring Palestinian surrender)
2- Starve Gaza; Israel is already doing this right now, no food or water has entered the Northern part of the Gaza Strip for over 2 months. Not to mention that Israeli captives would also starve like the rest of Gaza, b/c they don't live of Photosynthesis!
3- Bomb Gaza even more indiscriminately with 2,000 pound bombs again (& kill more Israeli captives than those the IDF has bombed)!
Again, there's nothing left for Israel to bomb in Gaza; the IDF literally ran out of targets. In Sep, when Hamas members killed 6 Israeli hostages in Rafah, Netanyahu held a cabinet meeting and asked how Israel can exact a heavy price from Hamas for this, his own top military officials told him "There is nothing [left] to charge a price from Hamas"!
4- Threaten to bury Turkey/Qatar under sanctions to kick Hamas leaders out; but those leaders can then easily move to Yemen, Iraq, Lebanon, Syria, Libya, Algeria, Iran... then good luck finding moderate mediators that would talk sense to them.
Also, what happens to those leaders is completely irrelevant to Hamas in Gaza; the Qassam doesn't care if Meshaal or Hayyia lose their nice homes in Doha or can't frequent Istanbul. Those Hamas leaders are there in the first place b/c the US asked Turkey and Qatar to host them!
This Trump threat would've worked well a year ago, before Israel wiped out over 70% of Gaza & rampaged through every single city of it & left it with nothing to lose!
Biden already allowed Israel to do almost every possible & impossible, thinkable & unthinkable war crime & crime against humanity in Gaza & it changed nothing. The only two options left are:
1- To nuke Gaza, & that too wouldn't bring the Israeli captives back.
2- Forcing Netanyahu to end the genocide & accept a ceasefire deal that would release all 100 Israel hostages & over 10,000 Palestinian hostages & detainees!
