One of Elon Musk’s most disturbing habits is his tendency to launch his mob against people he disagrees with. https://www.wsj.com/tech/musk-unleashes-online-army-on-federal-workers-a-tough-way-to-find-out-shes-losing-her-job-f57a2e94
When I said in 2022 that LLMs would hit a wall and that scaling laws would not last forever, everyone laughed. Now even Time Magazine sees that the moment of diminishing returns has likely arrived. Can a crash in GenAI valuations be far away?
1951 Hannah Arendt quote on the origins of totalitarianism nails it: “this process includes the replacement of all first-rate talents, regardless of their political loyalties, with crackpots and fools…” h/t @npub125we...99nd image

Prediction: Musk & Trump’s honeymoon won’t last forever; within a year or two, the two will have a falling out. Two egos that large can’t cooperate indefinitely. Musk may then either use Vance to push out Trump with 25th, (if Trump’s apparent dementia markedly advances), or start a 3rd party.
Hot tip! Crosspost across the many lands that Elon doesn’t own, in one app, with @openvibe.bsky.social No affiliation with them, but excited to try. H/t @andyhickl.bsky.social.
When Biden flubbed the debate, @nytimes called for him to step down. When Trump gave a simulated blow job to a microphone, it’s not even on the front page. If the Times doesn’t step up ASAP to seriously cover what looks like a case of progressive dementia or similar (as discussed in my last post), I am cancelling my subscription.
