I've been looking at people doing quote posts for quite a while now, and I conclude that quote posts were not a good addition to #Mastodon.
I would describe my observation like this: When I encounter quote posts, the conversation seems more disjoint. While it reduces the amount of screenshot posts, it seems to increases the amount of quote posts overall.
When people want to express their opinion about something someone posted, suddenly you need to follow 2 threads instead of one.
