Went out early to get some picking done and had some more to share out. Cukes and zucchini have about had it now but the yellow sunburst squash is still rolling along like it was mid-July. Temps are still in the 90°F (32°C) range so not nice in the sun. We DID finally have a storm roll through just after noon that dropped ¾ inch (19mm) of rain in about half an hour. Still enjoying our corn-fest, although the ears are smaller now due to the dry weather. I had to irrigate the second and third plantings today in the hope that we'll see an improvement in the later developing ears. We've had no measurable rain for the last 15 days, and only about 1 inch (~25mm) in the last 30 days. It's getting seriously dry again. This has taken it's toll on the cucumbers & butternut squash as you can see in the photo. I think the cukes have had it, but I'll see what can be salvaged in the morning. The butternut squash harvest will be somewhat less than last year, but there are quite a few good-sized ones hiding in the foliage. #gardening #Allotment #NewEngland #zone6b @npub1v5ap...ny6w
