The book called "A bend in the river" written by V.S. Naipaul. In the first sentence of the first chapter, he wrote "the world is what it is; men, who are nothing, who allow themselves to become nothing, have no place in it.
Clearly, I cannot deny the statement above. Not only can men not access the world, but they are also expected to face failure when they attempt to avoid becoming nothing.

苏稽镇
当我们考虑把古镇作为游玩休闲之处时,难免会把记忆中的古镇联系一起来。身处其中,似乎只有两个角色可以选择,要么当摩肩接踵的游客要么是店家中的一员,要么做各种小吃店家的一员。一切都是那么明朗确定,自然也就少了故事。
故事其实并不来源于巧夺天工的各式镂空雕花建筑,而是来传承古老的的生活状态。有时候,我觉得古镇之古在于居民保持着独特的精神状态,它和用上现代化设施其实关系不大。
而今天去逛了一个小镇,却给我传递了古镇的感觉。在镇上,有缝缝补补的小摊、有铁皮匠、寿衣店、烙饼店等等,好像只是时间推移到了现在,而居民生活的气质去如同千年之前。仅仅是抬头注意到路灯电线杆上的标语,才会让你意识如今是何光景。
