Oh, just one of the most famous VCs investing billions into AI saying it *can't* be a bubble because people are asking if it's a bubble. "The fact that it's a question means we're not in a bubble... in order to get to a bubble everyone has to believe it's not a bubble." Not trying to call out Tony & Devin here, but they are (somewhat confidently) reinforcing a very common, but exactly wrong myth about Section 230 and being a "publisher." Let's use this as an opportunity to do some educating around Section 230 and the idea of being "a publisher." https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreieywzxcl3bfs73ijyjexlcr2tbuumpkvgsfxa225yjlcf2rlrs46m
I get where this is coming from, but I've also been testing out a pair of display glasses (basically create a giant monitor in the glasses) that *don't record* but do have little cameras on the side in order to pin the monitor to a specific spot. I worry if I used them in public I'd get yelled at RE:
Hi Senator. Glad you're posting to Bluesky. But kinda weird that you're trying to kill Section 230 at the same time which would make it very difficult for Bluesky to exist. Maybe think through that a bit more carefully? RE:
Watch this. RE:
Even UNICEF is like "yo, Australia, this social media ban for kids is a terrible fucking idea." This evening was middle school entrepreneur fair. Kid & friends started a business selling spicy tortilla chips. Very spicy. At the last minute they decided to also sell water. And then a gift from the heavens: school watermain broke so the water fountains were out. They cleaned up on water sales. https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreiebeuxyhrrda3lfmuwwpwqh7zqiy5kkzwpb6avbubugkpe3lwkjym https://oyster.us-east.host.bsky.network/xrpc/com.atproto.sync.getBlob?did=did:plc:cak4klqoj3bqgk5rj6b4f5do&cid=bafkreic5zaznuoo5mtwzmkua66rmpertzjbte5hqvxj2n5lewp525xlcmy
Because this has already been shown to be a complete fucking disaster in Australia where the same policy went into effect 3 days ago... John Cornyn wants to bring it to America. RE:
Oh. Cool. Just as the President is using every power he can to suppress dissent and stifle speech, [@whitehouse.senate.gov@bsky.brid.gy]( ) and the [@judiciarydems.senate.gov@bsky.brid.gy]( ) are trying to hand Trump a new tool to suppress speech online. What a joke. RE:
A point I find myself raising repeatedly: people focus on tech policy within a silo (privacy, speech, safety, copyright, competition, etc.), without understanding the actual impact on the system, where you push on just one of those levers and don't realize it's disastrous for the other ones.
