US-based users will have to pay $49.99 (£36) a year for access to most BBC News content.
 Honestly I understand maybe it should have been done earlier but I'm torn because it contributes to the #spliternet? It was talked abut decades ago, but it will be a shame to see another reputable source (others may disagree of course) of facts behind a paywall. Public service needs to defend and reinvent its self!
