A new era for Sailfish OS Sailfish 5 has been in development since October 2024, first launching with the Jolla C2 Community Phone. With continuous refinements and community collaboration, we are now bringing this update to all supported devices. What’s new in Sailfish OS 5.0? ⚓ Sailfish Browser engine updated to Gecko ESR91, with work ongoing towards ESR102. ⚓ Android AppSupport upgraded to Android 13 (API level 33) for better app compatibility. ⚓ microG 0.3.6 enablers added and fixed. ⚓ WireGuard VPN support added. ⚓ New landscape mode for home view, events view, alarm view, and lock screen. ⚓ Call blocking capability added. ⚓ Support for Jolla C2 and Jolla Mind2 built in. Sailfish OS at FOSDEM 2025 recap Sailfish 5 is now in Early Access 2 for all supported devices, and we’re thrilled with the positive feedback so far. Thank you for your input—keep it coming! At FOSDEM 2025, the Linux on Mobile stand was packed with visitors eager to discuss open-source mobile platforms. Over the weekend, we had 500–1000 visitors stopping by, making this year even busier than before! At our BoF session, we explored: ⚓ Roadmap plans beyond Sailfish 5.0 ⚓ GCC, systemd & Gecko ESR 102 updates ⚓ New microG support for smoother daily use ⚓ Open-source plans for Sailfish OS And of course, we wrapped up the weekend with a fantastic Sailfish community meetup in Brussels.
