The European Court of Justice has ruled that Romania must recognize a citizen’s name and gender change after a British-Romanian man obtained legal recognition of his transition in the United Kingdom. The court says that Romania’s refusal to recognize a citizen’s new identification in a fellow European Union state constitutes an obstacle to the right of free movement and residence.
