Democrat Catelin Drey won a state Iowa Senate seat in a special election yesterday and flipped the seat blue, which breaks a Republican supermajority. That is a 19 pt. shift towards Democrats in that district relative to Trump’s numbers in November. Democrats have averaged more than a 10 point swing in all special elections since the 2024 election.
