I use group chats for letting my coworkers know that there are cookies in the kitchen not for national security issues.
Here’s a guy who wants to get reelected. Democrats are out in front of people. It just doesn’t get the same coverage. Somehow. “Georgia will bow to no king.” Full speech from Jon Ossoff in Atlanta: - YouTube
I just had a conversation with someone who likes this because they paid for private school and that “it’s not fair” they pay taxes. Here’s what I said. “Yes, it is fair. You chose to send your kids to private school. Every child should be eligible for a free education. Vouchers are crap. Private schools don’t have to take them. The voucher system won’t improve education. It will just make it worse.” Trump to sign executive action to dismantle the Education Department: https://www.npr.org/2025/03/19/nx-s1-5333861/trump-executive-action-education-department
If you ever get to vote again, please remember when Republicans decided to destroy "buy local" and "feed the children and the less well off.” Jesus must be proud. And please remember that your vote or lack thereof has consequences that impact people besides you. The bare minimum of social cooperation includes actions like stopping people from having to suffer through things like this. That’s help. Follow up that chant with something along the lines of “don’t vote Republican.” Republican Town Hall Drowned Out by 'Tax the Rich' Chants - Newsweek:
An executive order signed by Trump late Friday aims to shrink the Community Development Financial Institutions Fund, which supports more than 1,400 smaller lenders operating in areas that aren’t adequately served by larger banks, including GOP-voting areas. The program has injected billions of dollars into those communities. If Republicans really want to rebuke Trump, they have plenty of ways. There was a storm in the middle but it did not stop people from in and around Pittsburgh from standing with education and demanding that our schools continue to be supported by the federal government. Pittsburgh is an education city. When the children of Pittsburgh gave their nickels and dimes to build the Cathedral of Learning, which is where we met, it was because they understood the value of bettering the world through learning. Trump/Musk chaos is intended to do harm to our institutions.
Pennsylvania Democrats want to make their state the latest to provide school kids with free lunch and eliminate existing school meal debt. That’s pro-life. I knocked on doors in several elections for Emily Kinkead, one of the state Democrats reintroducing this bill. Local elections matter and so does your involvement. After hanging around here today, i don't think some people want a government shutdown. What they want is *ONE WEIRD TRICK* that makes Trump instantly unpopular and neuters him moving forward. It was dumb when it was "Mueller Time" (and I participated in that- I admit being wrong) and it's no different now. You have to vote these people out and keep them out. Our “weird trick” is voting. It’s a bitter pill and someone already went off on me today for being a “realist”, but that’s what we have.
