Remember the time when people had to buy CDs to install software - wait - let's go further than that - freaking floppy disks.
I would install it for my dad and if one floppy gets a CRC error... I would eject the floppy, blow the dust off, pray some mumbo jumbo, insert it back again, until ... it worked.
