There is a genuine and legitimate concern that if major media outlets report that Trump admires Hitler they might be perceived as having the kind of bias that leads them to suggest that Trump admires Hitler.
The FBI routinely notifies people if it believes they have been the target of a foreign influence operation. It sent a young agent to notify Ken Klippenstein that the hacked JD Vance dossier he published was part of such an operation.

The problem with “free speech culture,” as opposed to free speech law, is that it is fuzzy and malleable and can be manipulated like this to say “Richard Spencer talking was essential to healthy and productive debate but kids protesting Gaza is disruptive, intimidating, and discriminatory.”
