In the past, I have recommended Contabo for cheap VMs (but perhaps never here on the Fedi). I need to retract that recommendation. They had a terrible outage earlier this week (this happens! I can accept that!) but never sent one email to customers about it. Their status page is incomplete and they even proactively remove old updates. The bar for outage communication is low, and Contabo went below it.
