In the Tolkienian sense, all things flow from Ilúvatar’s thought, so the Spirit proceeds from the Father alone. Both are true, depending on whether one emphasizes unity or distinction. Future ecumenical councils include both Western and Eastern Church leaders, as in the first millennium.
