Sammy (left) and Alforenzo (right) formally qualified as lifeguards today! They are two long time participants in the The Surfer Kids' daily program. Since the day they joined, 9 years ago, these two have shown up. Every day. That’s nine years of consistency, discipline, and hard work. There were many ups and downs, but regardless of their circumstances, they kept pushing, kept training, and never gave up. Today, that commitment has paid off in a big way. At 16 years old, they've become the 4th and 5th lifeguards to come through our surf program. These young men are now part of Lifesaving South Africa, and we couldn’t be more proud of what they’ve achieved. Hard work. Dedication. Commitment. It all pays off. 🌊🏄‍♂️🛟 Loads of respect for everyone at The Surfer Kids - building real pathways. Real outcomes. Real impact. Since 2010.

Good evening from Cape Agulhas, Southern most tip of Africa. image
It means a lot to come home and share this award with the rest of the team. From the very beginning, in August 2021, when we on-boarded our first shop and started paying our first salary in Bitcoin, it's never been a one-man show. There's always been a team of people working together to make it all happen. Thanks again @Africa Bitcoin Conference and @African Bitcoiners for the recognition.
Watch 👀 Learning about Bitcoin at Ekasi Center & the Ekasi Thrift Store.
Watch 👀 A young woman spending some of her saved sats at the Bitcoin Ekasi Thrift Shop. This is a reflection of the growing strength of the local Bitcoin circular economy, where locals keep value circulating, empowering the community and showing real, everyday Bitcoin adoption in action.
Good morning. Spending sats is a gateway to saving Bitcoin. Stablecoins are financial surveillance and exploitation tools. That's all. Thanks!
“Stacking sats” teaches that anyone can build savings by consistently setting aside small amounts of Bitcoin. This practice fosters discipline, patience, and long-term thinking—especially for those striving to move beyond a hand-to-mouth lifestyle. In communities without easy access to banks, Bitcoin education empowers people to store value securely, send money freely, and manage their own finances. It’s not just about technology—it’s about financial independence, empowerment, and hope.
Students in the @My First Bitcoin Diploma program at Ekasi Center receive weekly rewards for consistent attendance and active participation. These rewards recognize student dedication and encourage responsibility and discipline. It also promotes real-world Bitcoin use by circulating sats, which helps students gain confidence, learn financial responsibility.
We have more followers on Nostr than on X but we get significantly more interactions on X; likes, reposts and comments, though I'm sure a lot of those are bots. Anyway, just figured that's kinda interesting.
