Stupid, hateful people take up a lot of energy.

My dog hates snow. Won’t walk on it. So, I had to shovel a path to the lawn and shovel a square on the lawn for her to go to the bathroom.

Freshman year of college, my parents went away for a weekend and I had a party at their house. Of course, this was forbidden. They found out and I was never again allowed to have a key to their house. I’m 62 and only have one now because my dad died and my family moved in with my mother.

Flu seems out of control in many places.

About 10 years ago, I gave my mom an ipad. She was 79. 3 months later, she called me on FaceTime from the ipad at 3am to tell me she woke up to go to the bathroom and couldn’t lift her head. She was scared. My dad couldn’t hear her yelling because he’d taken out his hearing aids. I got there ASAP, which meant 35 minutes and called an ambulance. She’d had a stroke. If she didn’t have the ipad, she’d have been in bad shape.

My mom is 89. I feel so lucky to have her.

This entire situation is now making me feel closer to human beings, not farther apart.
